Fresh Finds This Week (June, Week 4)

Can you believe it’s almost the end of June already?! I’m still wondering what happened to April!

While I scout out vintage treasures all year round, shopping for inventory for my shop is the most fun in the Spring, Summer, and Fall months, especially since the flea markets are open.

I decided to create a weekly article to share with you my fresh finds from this week. Think of it as a preview of what’s coming to our shop soon!

Here are this week’s fresh finds…

Dental Oddity – The dental form was definitely the find of the week! The vendor didn’t want to sell it yet because he thought there was a tooth in it that had a gold filling (not real teeth by the way). I asked him if he’d sell the item if we pulled that one tooth out – so we did! Dental surgery right there at the flea market!

Navy Lantern – The yellow lantern was used on Navy ships. I had a similar one in my shop a couple of years ago, so was excited to find this one. LOVE the bright yellow color!

Stamp Holder – I love finding stamp carousels! I take the stamps out and add glass test tubes to the holder so the carousel can be used as a unique flower vase.

Vintage Camera – I can never pass up vintage cameras! Photography is a hobby of mine, and I just really appreciate these old cameras. Not only can they be used to take photos, they make fun display pieces, too. I have some blue flash bulbs that I will add to this flash adapter, and it will look even better.

Retro Lamps – Orange. It grabs my attention every time! These way-cool retro orange desk lamps are so much fun! They each have a high and low switch, and would be a great bedside lamp.

Metal Tins – Speaking of orange, the first aid kit and snake bite kit have the best graphics on them! The contents are pretty cool, too. Perfect for a curio cabinet display. I’ve sold a lot of these kits in the past, and was happy to find another set.

Shark Week – Da dum… da dum… da dum… Shark Week will be here soon. I just couldn’t pass up this shark photo holder! You just slip a photo inside the clear plastic photo holder, then slide the holder into the jaws of the shark – how cool is that?!

Wood Tubes – The wood mailing tubes are really neat. They have a screw-off cap and were used to ship medicine bottles in the past. I could see them being used as a flower vase (with a small glass inside to hold the water), or as storage tubes for craft supplies. They also look cool on their own.

Target Practice – The metal birds on a wire shooting target has fun graphics! I love how the birds spin on the wire. I think this piece would look fabulous in a family game room!

Danger, Will Robinson! – I love these flashing danger signs! I’ve had them in my shop in the past and they always get a lot of attention. The color makes them stand out in any room and I think they make a fun, whimsical display piece.

Price Tags – The metal price tag holders are really different – I’ve had a lot of price tag holders in my shop in the past, but have never seen this kind. I think they are fun display pieces, and they could be used in altered art or assemblage projects, too. The price tags slide in and out, so you could replace them with your own signage. Perhaps they could be used on a buffet table to mark various cheeses or desserts.

Receipt Holders – I get so excited when I find these old receipt holders! They have so many clever uses! They can hold your mail, your favorite photos, to-do lists, or can be used as an inspiration board. I love the black metal (black fits into any decor theme) and the numbered metal clips are so cool. I’ve had a lot of these receipt holders in my shop in the past, and I’m excited to have a fresh supply!

Vintage Signs – I have so much fun finding vintage signs! They look great displayed in family rooms, home bars, and even kitchens. They are fun conversation pieces and add a pop of color to any room.

Shoe Display – Who knew a vintage shoe display stand could be so cool!? I love this piece! I’m going to use it to display the movie being shown at our Weekly Outdoor Movie Nights! The tripod base is really cool. I might have to hang on to this one for a little while before putting it in my shop.

Check back next Friday for more fresh finds, and make sure to check our shop at ThirdShiftVintage.com to see when these items are listed and available.

*The items above are all shown in “as found” condition. I’ll be cleaning them up and getting them listed in our shop as soon as possible.
