Fresh Finds This Week (July, Week 3)

Can you believe it’s mid-July already? Summer days go by WAY too quickly!

I took a couple of days off work to celebrate independence day at our lake house the first week in July (Week 1), so I didn’t get a chance to shop any flea markets, auctions, or estate sales. But, that’s okay – it was great being at the lake! Last week (Week 2) was a rainy week, so not a lot happening with outdoor flea markets around here.

But this week, it sure felt good to get back to our regular routine! It was a fun week hunting down vintage treasures! Have I mentioned how much I love my job? Here are some of this week’s smaller fresh finds – a preview of what’s coming to our shop, soon…

Medical Collectibles – I always get so excited when I find vintage snake bite kits! I think they are an interesting curiosity, and sort of an oddity. I love the aged metal tins and those awesome graphics! The pieces inside the kit are intriguing to me. I like to display these kits in my curio cabinet – they spark lots of fun conversations! I scored three of these kits this week!

Medical Model – Vintage anatomical models are just so cool! I’ve seen a lot of male human torso anatomy models, but this is the first female model I’ve come across. Her chest plate comes off to expose all her internal organs and working parts. Really neat!

Doctors Bag – While doctors these days don’t make house calls like they used to, their old medical bags are pretty great and can be used for so many things. They’re great for unique storage and are interesting to look at, too.

Anatomy Flashcards – Now you can learn every bone and muscle in your body with vintage flashcards! You don’t have to be a medical student to appreciate these cards. The line drawings are all in black and white and I think they would be fun to incorporate into assemblage projects or altered art projects. So many possibilities!

Old School Cool – Yes, I know. It’s just a vintage metal ice cube tray. BUT, these retro trays are awesome! I love making ice cubes in them and hearing that satisfying crunch when you lift the lever to remove the ice cubes. Perfect for summer entertaining!

Hardsided Luggage – This large hardsided case has a lot of character. Just imagine all the journey’s it’s been on! Cases like this one make unique end tables, pet beds, and storage solutions.

Clip Light – I just love these small clip lights! They look like something straight out of Pixar – the lamp shade looks like a hat on a tiny robotic character. And it’s functional, too!

Typewriter Tins – This set caught my eye because of the cool graphics. They each contain the original contents, and would look perfect displayed. Or if you prefer, you can repurpose the tins to hold small trinkets and treasures.

At the Pool – Well, how perfect is this! This heavy metal sign looks like it’s been hanging out at the pool for a long time. I’m going to take this as my cue to hit the pool this weekend. I hope you get a chance to do the same!
