“The Conversation Piece” this Week – The Last Ringling Bros. Circus (4/30/17 – 5/6/17) 1

Every week, I scour the internet to find interesting articles or websites to share with you. Sometimes related to home decor, often times related to vintage, and always fun and interesting! Topics that start conversations, teach you something new, or make you think.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee and tune in each Saturday for “The Conversation Piece” – you never know what we’ll discover to talk about!

The Conversation Piece this Week

Do you remember going to the circus as a kid? The trapeze artists, the jugglers, the costumes, and those oh so funny clowns. I read an Associated Press NewsBreak article this week – “Ringling’s Final Show Coming to Facebook Live” and had to share this with you.

This news makes me sad for so many reasons. I’m sad that the kids of today, and future generations, won’t have the chance to experience the famous Ringling Bros. Circus that has been around since the mid-1800s. The circus is magical. It’s something for families to enjoy together – not on a television or on a smartphone, but in real life. Together. I’m also sad that I never had the opportunity to bring MY kids to one of the circus performances.

In today’s day and age, time flies by so quickly. Adults and children are so connected to their electronic devices that the more simple things in life seem to be easily brushed aside. I think that is a shame. Kids should experience the excitement and adventure of a circus – live, and in person! Don’t you agree?

Sadly, the last 160+ years of this circus is coming to an end on May 21st. The last Ringling Bros. Circus performance will be held in Uniondale, New York. If you live in New York, I hope you can bring your kids, your kids friends, your neighbors, and your friends to this final performance! If you don’t live in New York or cannot attend the performance live, Ringling Bros. will broadcast this last performance on their Facebook page

Thank you Phineas Taylor Barnum for bringing us the circus and for creating so many fond memories of this most special time.

Sad in so many ways to lose this circus! They provided lots of entertainment and showed amazing talent! I wonder though about all the people who find themselves without a job and what will happen to the animals.
